The main attraction of the Alleppey Backwaters is the overnight journey in the famous kerela houseboats. There are many things to do in kerela houseboats, like looking at the lush green landscape and being served a freshly meal as you travel through the tranquil backwaters, which is just as amazing as it is made out to be. Generally the charge for a houseboat varies from 5,500 INR to 18,000 INR for a day trip but it’s better to call in advance and reserve in order to grab a less expensive deal.

2.) Sevenmallay Tea Estate, Munnar

Established in 1900, sevenmallay Tea Estate owned by the Tata Tea Company. The resplendent tea plantations in Munnar are like a slice of heaven plucked from the skies above perched at several feet over the sea level and boasting of misty skies above and green carpeted fields below, these splendid Tea gardens in Munnar are a must visit for every traveller.

3.) Kodanad Elephant Sanctuary

Kodanad Elephant Sanctuary is one of the major tourist attractions in kerela. 42 kms from kochi, visit there for some exciting activities like elephant bath, elephant safari and elephant feeding and watching baby elephants too. The rates may vary from 350-1500/person depending on the time and activities involved.

#Food:-

Puttu and kadala curry is traditional food of kerela. As cute as its name sounds, puttu is a cylindrical steamed rice cake cooked with coconut shavings. This is an extremely popular breakfast item and staple food of kerela.
Another most famous food of kerela is idli sambhar which is fondly eaten not just in kerela but everywhere in India!

Winter season between September to March is the best time to visit kerela. This is time when kerela has a comfortable climate and pleasant weather with less humidity.
